Following a significant change in personal and family circumstances, a client approached us seeking reassurance that, should illness or injury prevent them from working, their family’s financial security would not be compromised. Initial position

When we reviewed their existing arrangements, it became clear they had very limited protection in place. Aside from minimal workplace benefits, and less than their partner, there was little beyond what the state could offer.

The client wanted to understand how best to protect their income and safeguard their family’s day-to-day life. Having recently had a child with their new partner, and having gone through a divorce, they were especially motivated to ensure their loved ones would be financially secure if they could no longer work.

Our approach

We began by explaining the risks of having insufficient cover in the event of illness or incapacity. We also outlined the different types of protection available, including how policies can be tailored with features such as level or indexed benefits. This helped the client understand not just the purpose of each product, but how it could evolve with their needs over time.
